Kolossi Castle. Lusignans of Cyprus Coat of Arms
Description at the Castle says, "Cruciform marble slab with an escutcheon (emblem in the shape of a shield) in its center, which is divided into four sections and depicts the -then- complete coat-of-arms of the Lusignans of Cyprus. The emblem of Jerusalem, the old Lusignan coat of arms, the emblem of Cyprus and the emblem of Armenia are represented. The four compartments make up a unity, since as of 1393 the king of Cyprus was also king of Jerusalem and Armenia. Over the escutcheon, a crown can be seen, while on either side of the royal coat-of-arms of the Lusignan, the coat-of-arms of the two Grand Masters of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Jean de Lastic and Jacques de Milli, are depicted. Beneath the escutcheon, the coat-of-arms of the Grand Commander of the Order, Louis de Magnac, believed to be the founder of the Castle, is present."

Early remains of human habitation during Aceramic Neolithic period
Kalavasos Tenta, a Neolithic village (8000-5000 BCE) in Cyprus, actually has a large tent over it protecting the site. But that’s not how the area earned its name. According to local legend, Helena, Constantine the Great’s mother, pitched her tent here in AD 327 after her return from Jerusalem. She apparently brought with her the actual cross of Jesus’ crucifixion.
But more to the point, the site gives us insight into early human habitation during the Neolithic period. The village likely had approximately 150 people during this period. Note the round structure of the homes of the homes built into a hillside. This design was more effective for heating and cooling. Also note the close proximity of these tiny dwellings. There really was no such thing as privacy back then.
