Instructor-Led Training

Instructor-Led Training

We have many years of experience in teaching, public speaking, and training delivery in a variety of settings and with a variety of intended outcomes and target age groups. Our experience includes academia, tour guiding, and guest speaking in addition to the more traditional tasks of instructional design--the research, preparation, and delivery of training in industries from private businesses to public service organizations. See About Us for more about our backgrounds and range of experience.

Below, you will find a plan for a session of Instructor-Led Training that can be delivered in person, with an example of a virtual delivery through an interactive video medium.

TITLE: "Traveler Training PROgram: Planning an Excursion Instructional Design Document"

CONTEXT: This training session will teach Education Abroad students to use resources they have to hand or may encounter to plan excursions in unfamiliar places. Education Abroad students have varying degrees of travel experience and anxiety. They have different levels of experience using resources, both online and in “real life”. Teaching students to take control of their explorations while overseas builds confidence, ensures that they make the most of their time abroad, and limits the need for institutional oversight and intervention.

TIMELINE: 4 hrs.

OUR ROLE(S):
Kathleen Burt: SME, Instructional Designer, Audio and visual elements

After group work, a brainstorming spider diagram activity will allow students to perform their own knowledge check and consolidate. Participants will leave with a sample planning guide sheet for future excursions and a list of helpful resources.
